In preparation for today’s devotional thought, check out Colossians 1:9-14.
Paul described a life worthy of the Lord and that pleases Him as…
- Bearing fruit in every good work
- Growing in the knowledge of God
- Receiving strength with His power so you can develop endurance and patience
- Thankfulness towards the Father
How do you get to that place? The answer is found in verses 13-14: God has rescued us from sin through Jesus. Jesus is why we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. The only reason we can approach God is because of Jesus’ perfect life, perfect death, and perfect resurrection in our place. The result? A new life that is worthy of the Lord and please Him.
For me recently, I’ve been desiring to grow in patience. The Holy Spirit helped me to see that I can be impatient sometimes. Impatience is outside of God’s character, so I’ve been asking the Spirit to bring me into alignment with Him. After all, patience is one of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).
When the Spirit brings me to your mind, would you pray for me to receive God’s strength so that I can grow in endurance and patience?
From today’s devotional, how do you sense the Holy Spirit inviting you to take a step of growth and trust in Him?
Hi dad
Hi buddy!
Great devotional thought 🙂
I have been trying to identify why certain people easily anger or annoy me while others I extend patience and grace to very easily. I am asking God to help me see them the way He does.
